Secluded in a stunning setting of nearby farms and fields, the grandeur of the manor house is clear to see – and little has altered it over the past 400 years. Built in 1583, the house has been home to nine generations of the same family, with a wide variety of paintings, tapestries, porcelain, 17th century needlework and a rare James I carpet collected over the centuries. Wander the Great Hall, dining room, kitchen and Tudor bedrooms before visiting the museum, which houses full-size replicas of trades and crafts, including a village shop, school and dairy. You’ll also discover a fine collection of steam-powered farm and barn machinery during this historic family day out.
