- Arlene Towriss captured this amber glow at sunset in London on 5 December. 
- Hair ice spotted in Cheddar, Somerset, on 4 December, by Christine Uglow. It's caused by a fungus called Exidiopsis effusa and only grows on humid winter nights when the temperature is just below freezing. 
- Hair ice was also seen in Nethy Bridge, Scottish Highlands, by Steve and Emma Broadhurst. Steve told us, "We see this every year, especially where the deer nibble the bark."
