Arlene Towriss captured this amber glow at sunset in London on 5 December. Hair ice spotted in Cheddar, Somerset, on 4 December, by Christine Uglow. It's caused by a fungus called Exidiopsis effusa and only grows on humid winter nights when the temperature is just below freezing. Hair ice was also seen in Nethy Bridge, Scottish Highlands, by Steve and Emma Broadhurst. Steve told us, "We see this every year, especially where the deer nibble the bark."
